Our Story

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary was founded in 1961 when Ray and Mary K. Schriver purchased the former Kreuger Mortuary. Ray and Mary K. worked together growing their family business and in 1978, when Ray suddenly passed away, Mary K. began operating the mortuary as its owner-operator.

Third Generation

1987

In 1987, Mary K. and her sons, George and Jim, and daughter, Mary, designed and built a new facility moving Schriver's Mortuary to 414 Fifth Avenue Northwest along Highway 281 in Aberdeen. Mary K. purchased the land and began the process of designing and building a new mortuary from the ground up. It resulted in beautiful facilities that are reverential, very comfortable, and efficient.

2004

An expansion in 2004 added a crematorium and a new fellowship hall to serve the ever-increasing needs for these services in the region. Mary K. and the family continue to own and operate Schriver's Memorial Mortuary. As it nears its 65th Anniversary of being family owned and operated, the family continues to stress high-quality services delivered in a family-friendly manner.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory is the ONLY funeral home under the same family ownership for over 60 years in Aberdeen and the surrounding area.

2024

In 2024, Julia became a licensed funeral director and embalmer, starting her career as a third-generation funeral director in the Schriver family.
