     Shirley Ann Nikodym, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.

     Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Kevin Bergeson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.

     Shirley’s wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at Riverside Cemetery in Aberdeen.

     Following the burial, a luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately take place at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

     Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

     Shirley Ann Thiery was born August 3, 1935, to James Leslie and Evelyn (Zerbel) Thiery in Aberdeen, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and attended public schools.

     Shirley married Douglas Weller in August of 1953 in Aberdeen.  To their union, six children were born.  The family made their home in Aberdeen, where Shirley was employed at The Ranch Café. Following their divorce, Shirley moved to Rapid City, SD, where she met and later married Dewey Nikodym.  Together they owned and operated their own bakery in Rapid City before Shirley began working at K-Mart.  They later divorced.  Shirley was united in marriage to Frank Mosset in Rapid City.  Following their divorce, she transferred to the K-Mart store in Aberdeen in 2000, where she remained employed until the time of her retirement.  She continued to make Aberdeen her home.

     Shirley was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.  In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering for the Foster Grandparent Program and the RSVP Program.  She especially enjoyed singing with the RSVP Singers at the local nursing homes.

      Shirley is survived by her children:  Owen (Bonnie) Weller of Aberdeen, Todd (VaLynda) Weller of Aberdeen, Sheryl Doud of Jackson, MI, Jan (Steve) Marquardt of Aberdeen, Cindy (Kerry) Zell of Sartell, MN and Val (Libby) Usera of Black Hawk, SD; eight grandchildren:  Shawn (Sarah) Newell, Nicki (Shawn) Remme, Chad (Reyna) Doud, Heather Usera, Mike (Havilah) Marquardt, Justin (Kate) Usera, Kirby (Chelse) Weller and Jaida Usera; 16 great-grandchildren, with two great-grandsons on the way; two brothers:  Leslie “Sonny” (Joyce) Thiery of Rapid City, SD and Clarence (Judy) Thiery of Ashley, ND; and two sisters:  Lorraine Dumire of Aberdeen and June Remien of Henderson, NV.   

     She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and two brothers-in-law.
