William “Bill” Stephen Mount was born August 6, 1948 to William “Cecil” and Doris (Williams) Mount in Ipswich, SD. Bill grew up on a farm near Powell, SD. He attended country school at Powell and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1967. He attended Springfield State College for auto mechanics and worked for Henry Treftz for a year before attending Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD for Office Equipment Repair. Bill then moved to Winner, SD for a job repairing office equipment. He later moved to Yankton to work for two years while attending Springfield State College for a degree in Electronics. Bill was united in marriage to Jennifer Malsam on June 24, 1972 in Hosmer, SD. They lived in Winner, SD; Gregory, SD; and Yankton, SD before making their home in Aberdeen, SD. Bill worked for Office Equipment Company as a Service Technician and in later years as a Team Leader.

Bill was involved in the South Dakota Jaycees as a local and state officer. Bill was a man of strong faith. He was active in his church community, serving as a Parish Council Member, Marriage Sponsor Couple with Jennifer, Choir member, and Eucharistic Minister.

Bill was very much a family man that included his extended family members as well. He was very well known for his giving heart and gentle kindness. His infectious smile and contagious chuckle were well known as part of his easy-going personality. With all the physical suffering Bill endured his entire life, he always had a positive outlook on life.

Bill enjoyed time with family and always said, “Just time with family.” when asked what gift he would like for Birthdays and Christmas. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing trips with family and friends. He took many family vacations across the country. In later years, Bill and Jennifer travelled the country with special experiences: an Alaska fishing trip, rafting down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, a trip out to the East Coast for the Fall Foliage, and enjoyed a couple of winters in Arizona.

Grateful to have shared Bill’s life are his wife Jennifer of 49 years; children, Laura Mount of Aberdeen, SD and William “Bill” (Rachel) Mount of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Sabrina (Adam) Geist of Aberdeen, SD, Andrew Mount and Emma Mount of Bismarck, ND; sisters, Marsha (Terry) Howard of Miller, SD and Maureen (Ray) Howell of Aberdeen, SD; and sister-in-law, Jody (Jack) Lunde of Madison, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents William “Cecil” and Doris Mount and one brother, Robert Mount.
