Scott Eugene Nagel was born April 5, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, IA. He became part of the Gary and Carolyn Rath family in 1974 and they eventually made him their son through adoption.
Scott lived in Lead, SD and attended Northern Hills Adjustment Training Center until moving with his family to Hosmer, SD in 1993. He and his family resided in Hosmer four years before moving to Aberdeen in 1997, where he attended Aspire. Scott continued to make Aberdeen his home until the time of his death.
Scott loved his family very much. He also enjoyed Special Olympics, especially bowling and basketball. Scott’s favorite thing to do was play his guitar and sing “Happy Birthday” to anyone, anywhere, at any time. He truly loved everyone he ever met.
Grateful for sharing in Scott’s life is his father, Gary Rath of Aberdeen; his siblings: Julie (David) Dittus of Aberdeen, Peggy (Roger) Gant of Spicer, MN, Bruce (Sonya) Rath of New Castle, WY and Sheryll (Ray) Weisbrod of Rapid City, SD; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Rath; his sister, Donna Swanson; one niece; and two nephews.
