Sandra Lynn Kramer was born on January 28, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD, to Frank and June (Cleveland) Kramer. Growing up, she attended Howard-Hedger Elementary, Monroe Junior High, and Aberdeen Central High School, graduating with the class of 1969.
After high school, Sandy worked at Dakota Farmer Insurance Division and Kramer’s Red Owl. She ran an in-home daycare for eight years before accepting a position with the Aberdeen Public School District. She served the school district for 29 years, most notably as the secretary of May Overby Elementary, and later in the district’s central office.
In 2013, she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her family. There, she worked as a guest service representative at Sanford Medical Center, and she took great pride in serving her neighbors as an active member of her condominium’s board. She valued the friendships she developed within her condominium’s community.
Sandy was blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and a beloved child of God. She loved reading, especially on her peaceful deck with a relaxing view of the river and trees. However, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, performances, and concerts. She was their loyal supporter and constant encourager. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally.
Grateful for having shared Sandy’s life are her children, Dena (Brad) Hilscher and Lisa (Travis) Gallipo of Sioux Falls, and Corey (Tracy) Walker of Leawood, KS; grandchildren, Gillian, Adam and Jacob Hilscher, Aubrey Gallipo, Samantha, Leah and Anna Walker; and sister-in-law, Jean Kramer of Aberdeen.
She is preceded in death by her mother, June; father, Frank; sister, Rochelle (Kramer) Ochs; brothers, Jim and Randy Kramer; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ochs.
Memorials can be made to the Sanford Children’s Hospital via the Sanford Health Foundation. Flowers are provided by The Boston Fern in Aberdeen.
