Ronald (Ron) Dana Cornell was born on April 27th, 1928 in Newark, SD to Dana F. and Dora J. (Swanson) Cornell. Ronald attended Newark Public School for three and a half years before his family moved to Bath, SD on December 22, 1937. He graduated from Bath High School in 1946 as the Salutatorian of his class. He joined the Army in June of 1951 in the US Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in July 1953.

Ronald started work on the Milwaukee Railroad as a teenager during World War II. He worked at the Milwaukee Railroad full-time from 1947 to 1982, then worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in April of 1990. After Ronald’s retirement from the railroad, he went to work at Heartland Casino as a manager for 22 years, then retired again. Ronald moved to Aberdeen in 2008.
