Roger Hauck Obituary

Roger Hauck, 77, of Aberdeen, SD passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary, Aberdeen, with Pastor Blair Kirkpatrick of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ officiating .  A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday all at the mortuary.

Burial, with Military Rites by The Roscoe American Legion is at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer, SD.

Roger Hauck was born December 9, 1943, to Reinhold and Alvina (Scherbenske) Hauck in Bowdle, SD.  He graduated from Roscoe High School in 1961.  Roger enlisted in the US Navy in September after graduation.  While in the Navy, Roger served on the U.S.S. Atlanta and the U.S.S Cabildo. Roger received his honorable discharge in December of 1969.

Roger married Sandra Opp in Aberdeen in March of 1968.  Roger had a long career as a truck driver including working for HC Clark Implement in Aberdeen, Spitzer Implement in Roscoe, Norm Thorstenson Trucking in Selby, Kitchell Truckline in Ipswich, Peschke Trucking in Sioux Falls, and Mitzel Trucking in Aberdeen.  He even received the Truck Driver of the Month award in April of 2004 from the State of South Dakota.

Roger enjoyed football and driving around in his 2005 red Avalanche.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Roger was a member of the American Legion in Roscoe for many years.

Grateful for having shared Roger’s life are his wife, Sandra Hauck of Aberdeen; children: Kevin (Jeanne) Hauck of Aberdeen, Darin (Shannon) Hauck of Billings, MT, Ryan Hauck of Aberdeen, Nathan (Krystina) Hauck of Aberdeen, and Tyson Hauck of Yankton; siblings: Rick (Michelle) Hauck of Roscoe, Gloria Nelson of Sheboygan, WI, and Rosella Catlett of Minneapolis; and grandchildren: Cass, Caitlin, Carson, Rhiannon, Anistyn, Gavin, Addilyn, and Houston.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Schumacher and Virginia Meister; and brother Mervin Hauck.
