Rocky Lahammer was born to Helen M. (German) and Laverne V. Lahammer on May 13, 1957, in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1975. He married Janice Watson on June 9, 2011, and she remained his true love, rock, and best friend until his passing.
Rocky enjoyed several careers including working at 3M in Aberdeen, construction, and eventually as a forklift operator at Menards.
The most important part of Rocky’s life was his family, especially his parents and siblings. He was instrumental in caring for his mother after his father passed away in 2018. Rocky was a true blessing to her and all his family in this regard. His family meant the world to him. Rocky never met a stranger he didn’t quickly turn into a friend. He was always ready with a helping hand, a joke, and a smile.
Rocky is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janice; sons: Rocky (Melissa) Lahammer of Aberdeen, SD, Corey (Bethany) Lahammer of California, Shawn Lahammer of Utah, and Christopher Lahammer; stepchildren: Will (Lacey) of Aberdeen, SD, Brianna of Maryville, MO, and Jesse (Mel) of Maryville, MO; numerous grandchildren; his brothers: Randy (Victoria) of Sioux Falls, Michael (Lorna) of Mt. Vernon, IA, Warren (Robyn) of Rapid City, SD, and Neil (Meg) of Red Wing, MN; sisters: Michelle (John) Pechacek, of Cary, NC, and Marsha (Doug) Moseley of Richmond, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
