Paul G. Rasmussen, 75, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2022, with a Memorial Service following at 7 p.m. all at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, Aberdeen.
Burial will be at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Paul G. Rasmussen was born November 25, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, to Darel and Ruth (Goodrich) Rasmussen. He was raised in the Minneapolis area and attended high school. He enlisted in the Navy in December of 1965, served his country in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in December 1967. He returned to Minneapolis and attended the Dunwoody Institute where he received his Plumbing Certificate.
Paul married Dianne Johnson on April 1, 1969, in Minneapolis, where they made their home until moving to Mellette, SD, in 1974. He started working for Friske Plumbing and Heating, where he was employed for many years. In 1994, he was forced to retire due to health complications.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was selfless and worried about the needs of others before his own. Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed many years of camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved watching any and all kinds of sports Paul enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared Paul’s life is his wife, Dianne; his mother, Ruth; four daughters: Kristina Mechaley, Laura (Troy) Malsam, Anne (Jeff Weismantel) Rasmussen, and Amy (Chad) Jorgensen; two brothers, Mark Rasmussen and Jim Rasmussen; one sister Roxanne (Scott) Conley; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Darel; and his brother, Mike Rasmussen.
