He enlisted in the Navy in December of 1965, served his country in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in December 1967. He returned to Minneapolis and attended the Dunwoody Institute where he received his Plumbing Certificate.

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was selfless and worried about the needs of others before his own. Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed many years of camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved watching any and all kinds of sports Paul enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Paul’s life is his wife, Dianne; his mother, Ruth; four daughters: Kristina Mechaley, Laura (Troy) Malsam, Anne (Jeff Weismantel) Rasmussen, and Amy (Chad) Jorgensen; two brothers, Mark Rasmussen and Jim Rasmussen; one sister Roxanne (Scott) Conley; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
