Patrick “Pat” John McHugh was born January 4, 1950, in Aberdeen, SD to Frank and Beatrice (McNeary) McHugh. He was raised on Lincoln Ranch, northeast of Aberdeen and attended rural schools in Ordway Township and Sacred Heart Parochial School in junior high. Following graduation from Roncalli High School, Pat furthered his education at SDSU in Brookings, SD. He then moved to Steamboat Springs, CO, where he sold real estate for several years. Pat eventually returned to Aberdeen and continued to pursue a career in real estate and insurance sales for many years. In addition, he kept busy being the landlord of several rentals, farming the family farm, and breeding Labradors Retrievers as well as Arabian Horses.
Pat was an avid collector of everything imaginable. He loved spending time outdoors and was an active member of many organizations including Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and Great Plains Outdoorsmen.
Grateful to have shared Pat’s life are his brothers, Mike (Mary) McHugh of Aberdeen and Phill McHugh of Nashville, TN; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice McHugh.
