Michael “Mike” L. Beck, a retired but avid outdoorsman of Aberdeen, SD, passed away unexpectedly of a sudden heart attack the evening of May 8, 2020, at the age of 70. He was transported from his summer home in Akaska, SD, to Bowdle Healthcare Center, Bowdle, SD, where they did their very best to help him. The family appreciates the help and support of friends, family, and healthcare workers who assisted.
Mike L. Beck was born in Aberdeen, SD on August 21, 1949 to Scott and Florence (Simon) Beck. He graduated from Roncalli High School in 1967 and worked in commercial windows and entrances for many years.
Mike married Sharon Huber and they had one son, Scott. Mike retired early and was able to pursue his hobbies of fishing and hunting full time.
In the spring, summer, and early fall he could be found spending days in a boat on the Missouri river. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting in the fall and early winter. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Scott; and his sister, Carolyn Beck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Florence Beck.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and respecting the health of friends and family, no immediate gathering will be held. A private memorial service at Sacred Heart Cemetery will be attended by Sharon and Scott with Father Patrick Grode, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
