Mike was born on November 24, 1962, to Mary Lou Sahli (Schwan) and Edward Hughes in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in Aberdeen and attended St Mary’s Grade School, Holgate Junior High, and Aberdeen Central High School.
On July 15, 1983, Mike married Janet Imbery. They went on to have two sons: Matthew and Brandon.
Mike had many hobbies that he enjoyed including coaching his sons in soccer and boxing, playing pool, hunting, fishing, and playing an active role in the AA Community.
Mike grew up with a passion for boxing. He would go on to win several state titles. This passion is something he shared with his sons. He coached both Matt and Brandon to the National Tournament.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman, but if you couldn’t find him in the field hunting or on the lake, you could probably find him at the yellow house. He took great pride in his 28 years of sobriety. Mike loved his job as a truck driver as it allowed him to travel and see the country.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 38 years, Janet; his sons: Matthew (Calii) and Brandon; his siblings: Vicki (John) Vetch, Dean Hughes, Cindi (Doug) Fritz, and Doug (DeDee) Sahli; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Jeff Sahli; one infant brother; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
