Matthew "Matt" Harold Hollister

Matthew “Matt” Harold Hollister, 37, of Dell Rapids, SD and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019, near Dell Rapids.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin, Celebrant.

Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Aberdeen.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m., Sunday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Matthew “Matt” Harold Hollister was born July 22, 1982 to Kenneth and Janet (Schaunaman) Hollister in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up near Aberdeen and graduated from Central High School in 2001 and went on to Northern State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business with many honors including Magna Cum Laude. During college and following he worked in the warehouse and trucking industry in Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, and Dell Rapids. 

Matt was always interested in sports and played soccer throughout his life. He was a man of adventure and loved trying new things including parasailing, kayaking, sky diving and bungee jumping. He was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. 

Matt is survived by his mother and father, Kenneth and Janet Hollister; sisters, Alicia (Joe) Kluver and Amanda Hollister; girlfriend, Deanna Batres and her children, Adriana, Cesar, and Roslyn; grandparents, Pauline Schaunaman and Darrell and Ellen Hollister; many other family members including aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many, many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Schaunaman.
