Marilyn Baadte Obituary

Marilyn Louise Baadte, 69, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab with her family by her side.

Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary with Fr. Tim Cone officiating.

Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.

A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Marilyn Louise Gibson was born October 29, 1951 in Edgely, ND to Homer and Clara Mae (Gorman) Gibson. She lived in Nortonville, ND until 1965 when she moved with her family to Aberdeen, SD.  Marilyn graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1970.

On November 17, 1973 Marilyn married Terrance Baadte in Aberdeen.  They were married for 47 years until he passed away on December 6, 2018.  Marilyn and Terry raised three children: Tim, Robin, and Rebecca Jo.  Marilyn worked as a housecleaner for 20 years.  In 2004, she started work as a cook at Northern State University and in 2011 she started working at Presentation College as a cook.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family.  She enjoyed camping with Terry as well as gardening and crafting.

         Marilyn is survived by her children: Tim (Stacy Anderson) Baadte of Aberdeen, Robin (Dave) Engraf of Aberdeen, and Rebecca Jo (Chris) Jurrens of Toronto, SD; brothers: James (Donna) Gibson of New Brighton, MN, Allen (Margaret) Gibson of Aberdeen, Jerome Gibson of Aberdeen, David Gibson of Mobridge, SD, and Ron (Karen) Gibson of Aberdeen; sisters: Pat Stoller of Jamestown, ND, Lorna (Dirk) Eggleston of De Motte, IN, Jean Karsten of Sturgis, Gail (Paul) Jacobs of Aberdeen, SD, Sheila (Leon) Maag of Watertown, SD, and Karen (Mike) Browning of Rapid City, SD, six grandchildren: Andrew and Josh Anderson, Amber Engraf, Brianna, Logan and Ashtyn Jurrens; and many nieces and nephews.

         Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; parents, Homer and Clara Mae Gibson; two infant brothers; one infant sister; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Josephine Baadte.
