Margaret Gisi

Margaret “Marge” Pearl Gisi, 84, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Tim Cone officiating. The burial is at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following the Mass for family only.

There will be a liturgical wake at the mortuary at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Margaret “Marge” Pearl Oe was born on March 8, 1937, in Woonsocket, SD to Alfred Oe and Elsie Rogers. At a young age, Margaret’s family moved to Aberdeen. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1955.

Marge married the love of her life, Paul Gisi, on May 24, 1958, and they had eight beautiful children: Jim Gisi, Laura (Lee) Frankenberger, Tom (Toni) Gisi, Dianna Gisi, Paul (Shawna) Gisi, Lynette Gisi, Joe (Julie Janisch) Gisi, and Mary Lindquist.

Later, Marge start working at Avera St. Luke’s, where she did so for many years. Her husband passed away in 1999, and she retired from Avera in 2002. She continued to make Aberdeen her home, working part-time at Sooper Stop for many years.

Marge was an avid reader, reading many books. She loved baking, quilting, and crocheting, and she crocheted many blankets.

Margaret is survived by her six children; her two sisters: JoAnne (John) Eckert and Theresa (Pat) Kuckelburg; her brother, Ed Oe; 11 grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son: Jim; her daughter: Mary; and two sisters: Mary Louise Schaible and Janice Johnson.
