Louis “Bud” L. Campton was born January 11, 1932, in Aberdeen, SD to James and Stella (Maynard) Campton.  He grew up in the area and attended rural school in Lincoln Township.  Following his education, he farmed with his father and brothers.

In 1952, Bud was drafted into the Unites States Army and served two years, until his honorable discharge, when he returned to farming.

Bud married Delores B. Burckhard on July 2, 1955.  To this union, three children were born: Dan, Ron, and Cindy.  While Bud and Delores raised their family, he continued farming and custom hay moving.  Bud enjoyed farming very much, he retired to Aberdeen, but continued to give advice at the farm almost daily.  Bud and Delores shared 55 years of marriage before she passed away on July 24, 2010.  Bud continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of his death.

In his younger years, Bud enjoyed hunting and bowling in his spare time and did both for many years.

Bud is survived by his children:  Dan (Jane) Campton, Ron (Mary) Campton and Cindy (Andy) Meyers, all of Aberdeen; six grandchildren:  Jarred (Vy) Campton, Matt (Madi Koster) Campton, Nathan Campton, Justin Campton, Joseph (Michelle) Meyers and Rebecca (Dan Pruett) Meyers; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Francesca Meyers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Campton; his parents, James and Stella Campton; two brothers, Roger Campton and William Campton; his sister, Mary Lou Jerde; and one great-granddaughter, Mia Meyers.
