Lois Marie (Chalcraft) Brandenburg

Lois Marie (Goodspeed) Brandenburg, 94, of Aberdeen, SD, entered her eternal home with the Lord Jesus on Monday, December 6, 2021.

Marie’s wishes were to be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lois Marie Chalcraft was born July 29, 1927, to Floyd and Iva (Williams) Chalcraft, in Aberdeen, SD, where she spent most of her life and where she passed away with loving care at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.

Marie was full of life. She loved to sew, read, garden, craft, fish, golf, travel, and meet new friends. She was a member of various women’s groups. With all that, she always held a full-time job. To her family’s amazement, Marie became an excellent quilter, leaving a legacy of beauty for all her children and every grandchild. She always had a dog to love, but her favorite was Molly Brown, her dear friend, and companion for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Darrell Ernest Goodspeed (deceased 1981); her late husband of five years, Dean Brandenburg (deceased 1992); her mother and step-father, Iva and Louis Grimstad; her daughter, Deborah Goodspeed; her sister, Jean Loehrke; and her brother, Floyd Chalcraft.

She is survived by her daughters: Claudia (John) Adams, Roberta (Scott) Kervin, and Gaye (Gary Dutenhoeffer) Goodspeed; her son, Darrell (Haruko) Goodspeed; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
