Linus H. LaVallie, 71, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, following a short battle with cancer.

His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father David Janes officiating.  A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Linus’ wishes were to be cremated, with burial taking place at St. Benedict Cemetery in Belcourt, ND, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Linus H. LaVallie was born January 26, 1948, in Grand Forks, ND to Florestine LaVallie.  He was raised in the Turtle Mountain area, near Belcourt, ND.  Linus attended school in Flandreau, SD and graduated from Flandreau High School with the Class of 1967.  He then furthered his education at Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown, SD, where he learned his trade of hanging drywall.

Linus was united in marriage to Karen Gladue in Dunseith, ND, in November of 1967.  They were married until 1976, and to their union a son and a daughter were born. 

 In 1971, Linus started his own drywall business in Aberdeen, which he ran until March of 2019, when ill health forced him to retire.  He continued to make Aberdeen his home until the time of his death.

Linus was an old car enthusiast. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old Western television shows and playing cards.  Linus also loved fishing, especially with his best buddy, Bobby Imberi. 

Grateful to have shared in Linus’ life are his children:  Sidney LaVallie of Minot, ND and Kathleen (Jerald) Bankston of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren:  Cassidy LaVallie, Kelcey LaVallie, Deryk (Brittany) Decouteau, Frank (Ember) Decouteau, Derek Bankston, Garrett (Andrea) Bankston, and Sydnee Bankston; 11 great-grandchildren:  Cambridge, Daytona, and Josidy Grant, Matt LaVallie, Jr., Damean, Sarenity, Easton, Mikon, and Brexly Decouteau, and Holly and Peyton Decouteau; two brothers; two sisters; his best friend, Bobby Imberi; and two grandbunnies:  “Pippen” and “Po”.

Linus is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
