Linda Sivertsen Obituary

Linda Lou Sivertsen, 88, of Aberdeen, SD passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen with Fr. Andrew Dickinson officiating.

Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Aberdeen.

Visitation is 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake and rosary at 5:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Linda Lou Thorstad was born April 30, 1933 to George and Clara (Baldwin) Thorstad in Chinook, MT. Linda went to country school and graduated from Chinook High School in 1951. She attended Northern Montana College and received her degree as a Legal Secretary in 1953. 

Linda married Leonard Sivertsen on November 11, 1953 in Chinook, MT, and they were married for 45 years.  They were blessed with six children. Linda’s family moved to Aberdeen where she worked stocking Hallmark greeting cards at local retail stores.

Linda was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society Band 11, and also taught CCD. She enjoyed listening to carousels, sewing clothes for her kids, making clothes for Barbie Dolls, cooking and spending time at her cabin at Richmond Lake.

Grateful for having shared Linda’s life are her children: Jan (Rick) Collingwood of Boise, ID, Helen Sivertsen of Manhattan, MT, the four little ones, A.K.A, Paul (Cheryl) Sivertsen of Aberdeen, Leanne (Greg) Hoffman of Mina, SD, Mark Sivertsen of Aberdeen, and Susan (Doug) Toavs of Chisago City, MN; one foreign exchange student, Regina Costa-Schultz of Sao Paulo, Brazil; sister, Nellie (Lee) Kornoff of Thousand Oaks, CA; sister-in-law, Lois Thorstad of Lloyd, MT; 10 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and one brother, Merle Thorstad.
