Lila Jane Schwalbe, 86, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, at her home.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2020, at First United Methodist Church, 502 South Lincoln Street, Aberdeen, with Pastor Derek Baum officiating.
Burial follows at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Due to COVID 19, no luncheon or time of fellowship will take place.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lila Jane Carlson was born March 1, 1934, to Nels Gustav and Wilma (Zieroth) Carlson in Waconia, MN. This is the area where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Waconia High School as Valedictorian.
Lila was united in marriage to Lewellyn Charles Schwalbe on August 6, 1952, at the Moravian Church in Waconia. In 1959, Lila and Lewellyn and their family moved to Aberdeen, where in addition to being a homemaker and raising her children, Lila also worked as a bookkeeper at Gold Bond, for Peter Buttaro, and later, at Farm Power. The couple raised three daughters and shared 47 years of marriage before Lewellyn passed away in May of 1999. Lila continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.
Lila was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. She served as President of the Red Cross Grey Ladies and was also active in Kiwanis. In addition, Lila was a founding member of the WWII Pheasant Canteen Team. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially birthday cakes for her family.
Grateful for sharing Lila’s life are her daughters, Linda (Terry) Salfrank, Lisa VanBeek, and Janet (Florian) Volk, all of Aberdeen; five grandchildren: Christi (Jesse) Weideman, Jim (Christen) Salfrank, Nick (Nicole) Volk, Michael (Shannon) VanBeek and Matthew VanBeek; six great-grandchildren: Tya Weideman, Jackson Weideman, Drew Salfrank, Addyson Salfrank, Jada Volk, and Maci Volk; two sisters: Blondie Vanek of Brainerd, MN and Judy Willette of Rosemont, MN; and one brother-in-law, Willie Arnold of Hopkins, MN.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Lewellyn; her parents, Nels and Wilma Carlson; and one sister, Marlys Arnold.
