Leslie Calvin Lechner was born July 29, 1927, to John and Frances (Geffre) Lechner near Forbes, ND. Leslie attended several country schools before he enlisted in the Army. After returning home, Leslie worked for Hub City Iron for many years before moving on to ranching full-time.
Leslie married Goldie Monica Lohmann on June 6, 1960, in Aberdeen. The couple was blessed with three sons, Kevin, Kelan, and Kelup. Leslie enjoyed hunting with his boys. He was especially fond of a rare breed of belted cattle called Buelingo Cattle. Leslie enjoyed ranching, which was apparent as he did not sell his cattle or retire until the age of 94. Leslie and Goldie were fortunate enough to spend 62 years of married life together. Goldie passed away in December of 2022.
Grateful for having shared Leslie’s life are his two sons, Kevin Lechner of Bath and Kelan (Patty) Lechner of Aberdeen; daughter-in-law Dawn Lechner of Aberdeen; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Goldie, his son Kelup, and grandson Bryce.
