Laura McCrea Obituary

Laura Lynn McCrea, 52, of Richland, WA, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service.

Laura Lynn Streitz was born at Sisseton Community Hospital in Sisseton, SD, on June 17, 1969, to Dana and Linda (Bladow) Streitz. Laura moved to Kornwestheim, Germany, near Stuttgart, in 1973 while her father was stationed there in the US Army. She moved with her parents to Aberdeen, SD, where she graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1987. She then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she met Eric McCrea. Laura and Eric settled in Benton City, WA, where they were united in marriage on June 18, 1994. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Mason and Riley.

Throughout her life, Laura loved being active. She enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, camping, boating, skiing, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, on the water, and visiting with her friends. She loved animals, especially her dog, Kady, and cat, Cricket. For many years, Laura worked at Costco in Kennewick, WA. Most recently, Laura provided home health care for the elderly, specializing in working with those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. This gave her great joy and purpose in life as she was loved by every client she worked with.

Above all, Laura cherished spending time with her family. She was so proud of her daughters and their many accomplishments. She also adored the time she spent with her grandson, Colton. Laura was loved by everyone who knew her and will be remembered as a mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt who always cared for others before herself. Even in death, Laura donated her body to science in the hopes of helping others.

Laura is survived by her daughters: Mason (Josh) Harter of Richland, WA, and Riley McCrea of Girdwood, AK; grandson, Colton Harter; mother, Linda Bladow; stepmother, Julie Streitz; siblings: Brendan (Wendy) Streitz, Garrett (Emily) Streitz, and Carmyn (Matt) Schrank; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, Dana Streitz.
