Larry Lee Doerr was born June 6, 1951, to Alvin and Edna (Wetzel) Doerr in Aberdeen, SD. He was the third of eighteen children. He attended Henry Neill Elementary and Simmons Middle Schools. He primarily worked in tree trimming following in his father’s footsteps working with the family business as well as eventually owning his own tree service.
Larry married Sandra Harr at St Paul’s Luther Church in Aberdeen in 1970, and they welcomed a daughter, Tammy, into their family. Larry and Sandy divorced in 1986 but continued to have a friendship until Larry’s death.
Larry was an avid sports fan and he could be found rooting for the Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He was always up for a game of horseshoe, pool, or bowling. Larry also enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, and especially loved sharing his hobbies with his loved ones. He was a great friend to many and will be dearly missed. Larry had a huge heart and an incredible (quirky, sometimes colorful) sense of humor.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Tammy Doerr; granddaughter, Jessica Doerr; brothers and sisters: Willie (Gail) Doerr, Anna (Dean) Perry, Jeannie Sanders, Betty (Wayne) Borge, Angie (Doug) Hedges, Duane Doerr, Cindy Doerr, Carol Doerr, Jim (Charlene) Doerr, Shirley (Tom) Rowan, Alvin Doerr, Robert Doerr, David (Beth) Doerr, Sharon Doerr, and Karen Doerr; many nieces and nephews; and his aunt, Jeannie Doerr.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Terry and Danny Doerr; and two infant siblings.
