Larrie Ronald Petrich, 76, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center from COPD complicated by COVID.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2021, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 624 North Jay St, Aberdeen, with Reverend Jordan Andreasen officiating.
Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the mortuary, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church.

Larrie Ronald Petrich was born November 7, 1944, to Erwin and Ethel (Peterson) Petrich in Webster, SD. He grew up on a farm near Butler, SD and attended Butler Grade School. Larrie graduated from Bristol High School in 1962. After graduating he worked for Nelson Produce in Bradley, SD for a year. He then attended Northern State College for a year and worked at 4 Brother’s Market. Larrie graduated from Aberdeen School of Commerce with an accounting degree. During this time, Larrie was a member of the Army National Guard for 6 years in the 147th Field Artillery. He then went to work for Hub City Iron. In 1967 he started working at Northern Electric Cooperative as a bookkeeper and moved up to the position of office manager. He loved his job and enjoyed his co-workers. Larrie worked there for 38 years.
Larrie married Gwendolyn Scheuffele on March 4, 1967. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage. The couple had a daughter and two sons. Larrie was a loving and gentle father. He was also blessed with three grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and he supported them in all their activities.
In retirement, Larrie drove shuttle to Summit for Aberdeen Rideline. As a people person, he truly enjoyed this job. He had a gift of gab and loved to banter and joke around. Larrie was an avid fisherman. You could never fish too much according to him. He even gave himself the nickname “Mr. Walleye”. Larrie shared his catch with many. This passion was shared by his son, Chad, and grandson, Jonathan. Larrie enjoyed working with plants and flowers. Each spring he planted a good number of planters that increased in numbers each year. Larrie and Gwen also loved to travel and enjoyed cruises and bus trips. Larrie was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served as Treasurer, Usher, Elder, and Trustee. Larrie was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army Snack Pack Program and served on the Brown County Thrivent Board. He also enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings.
Larrie is survived by his wife, Gwen; daughter, Corina (Tom) Clark of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sons, Chad of Aberdeen and Shannon (Cheryl) of Burnsville, MN.; grandchildren: Jonathan, Jackson, and Carly Clark, all of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Beverly (Allan) Seibel of Britton, S.D. and Rebecca (Phil) Story of Williston, N.D.
Larrie is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Leonard Scheuffele, and two brothers-in-law, Lincoln Napton and Larry Bader.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
