Kenneth Duane Ellingson, 77, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

His memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2019, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 214 7th Avenue SW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Josiah Fitch officiating.

Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Aberdeen with military rites being conducted by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24 of Aberdeen. 

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Kenneth Duane Ellingson was born December 27, 1941, in Kulm, ND, in LaMoure County, to John and Edna (Hoffer) Ellingson.  At a young age, he moved with his family to Aberdeen, where he was raised and attended school.  Kenneth was a graduate of Aberdeen Central High School.  

In February of 1960, Kenneth entered the United States Army and proudly served his country until February of 1966, when he received his Honorable Discharge.  

Upon returning to Aberdeen, Kenneth began employment at Hub City Inc.  Most recently he was an employee of Safeguard in Aberdeen, where he worked until his retirement.  Kenneth became a resident of Aberdeen Health and Rehab in 2015 and continued to reside there until the time of his death. 

Kenneth loved spending time outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing and was also an avid hunter who especially loved archery deer hunting.  Kenneth was an active member of the Whitetail Bowmen Archery Club in Aberdeen.  He volunteered much of his time there and was involved in many of their activities.  Kenneth also enjoyed photography and many of his photos featured his love of nature and the outdoors.

Kenneth is survived by one sister, Carol (Bruce) Sukut of Aberdeen; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
