Kathleen M. Pfeifer, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen.

A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow Mass at the parish hall.

Burial will be in Zeeland, ND, at a later date.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, Dec 8, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, with a 7 p.m. liturgical wake. Visitation will continue one hour before Mass.

Kathleen Marie Jund was born in Mandan, ND, to Ben and Laura (Bauer) Jund on November 15, 1940. She was raised and graduated high school in Zeeland, ND. She then attended the North Dakota State Normal and Industrial School in Ellendale, ND, and earned a degree in education.

Kathleen married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Pfeifer, on December 26, 1961, in Zeeland, ND. They shared just shy of 62 years together as husband and wife.

After residing in Scobey, MT, Herried, SD, and Redfield, SD, Kathleen and Vernon moved to Aberdeen in 1969, where they made their home for over 50 years.

Kathleen was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook and baker and had a gift when it came to making delicious meals and “sweet treats.” She was an avid reader, enjoyed taking long walks, listening to music, and loved tending to all the flowers and plants in her yard. Kathleen had a close circle of friends, with whom she gathered for regular coffee dates and outings.

Kathleen was happiest and most at peace when she was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; three children: Karla Pfeifer of Aberdeen, SD, Patrick (Joyce) Pfeifer of Watertown, SD, and Terry (Jennifer) Pfeifer of Puyallup, WA; four grandchildren: Jonathan (Jessica) Pfeifer, Megan (Christopher) Gullickson, Abby Pfeifer, and Preston Pfeifer; one great-grandchild, Kennedy; numerous nieces and nephews; Mrs. Barb (Lee - deceased) Wolf of Aberdeen, SD, who was her closest and dearest friend; brother Jon Jund of Twin Falls, ID; and sister Cheryl Klein of Fargo, ND.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings: Jim Jund and Judy Fredricks.

Kathleen is in her eternal home with Our Holy Father, rejoicing with family and friends in heaven.
