John Schuck Obituary

John D. Schuck, 93, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

His funeral service, for immediate family only, will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2020, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin officiating.

Burial, with military rites, follows at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

John D. Schuck was born November 19, 1926, to Michael and Magdalene (Mardian) Schuck in Aberdeen, where he was raised, attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

John entered the United States Army on March 8, 1945.  He served overseas at Leyte, Philippine Islands.  He received his Honorable Discharge on December 7, 1946.  John returned to Aberdeen and was employed with Armour Company for several years.

John married Carol J. Wing on June 2, 1962, in Aberdeen.  They continued to make Aberdeen their life-long home.  John was later employed with Northern Electric Company for many years until the time of his retirement.

John was a life-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was also a member of Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24 and VFW Post #17, all in Aberdeen.  

In his spare time, John enjoyed gardening, traveling, and woodworking.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Schuck of Aberdeen; and one nephew, Lee Raymond Wing of LaGrande, Oregon.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Magdalene; and two brothers, Joseph and Frank.
