Irmgard G. Bautz, 99, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Prairie Heights in Aberdeen.
Irmgard’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal services. A private family interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens mausoleum at a later date.

Irmgard G. Bautz was born November 10, 1922 in Berlin, Germany to Carl and Gertrude Dinse. It was here that she was raised and where she went to school. She married Erick Schnell in Berlin, Germany and they continued to make Berlin their home. To this union three children were born, Dieter, Peter, and Ericka. Erick was killed in active military duty during World War II.
Irmgard later married Erick Bautz in 1948 in Lehrte, Germany. To this union, a daughter, Monika, was born. In 1952, the family moved to the USA. They farmed in Nebraska for a short time and later moved to Chicago. They worked various factory jobs, and in 1956 purchased a farm in Wisconsin. They sold the farm in the mid-1970s. Irmgard and Erick were semi-retired and continued to reside in Wisconsin for several years. They lived in Oregon and Idaho before settling in Aberdeen in 1996.
Irmgard enjoyed working in her flower gardens, enjoyed polka music, and loved playing bingo every week at the Moose Lodge. Irmgard also had a talent for quilting and made several quilts for her family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are daughter Monika (Joe) Deer of Aberdeen, SD; Son Dieter Schnell of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Irmgard was preceded in death by both of her husbands; one son; one daughter; one brother; two sisters.
