Hazel Reecy-Anderson, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Mark Axtmann officiating.
Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.
Hazel Lorraine Kreutz was born to Hans and Christina (Holm) Kreutz on June 23, 1927 in Lemmon, SD. Hazel moved with her family to Brandt, SD in 1938. Hazel attended schools in Thunderhawk and Brandt, SD.
On May 29, 1946, Hazel and Gerald Reecy were united in marriage at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby, MN. They resided in Clear Lake, SD, until moving to Aberdeen in September of 1974. To this union three children were born: Geraldine, James, and Robert. Hazel’s husband, Gerald, passed away in 1977.
Hazel worked at various jobs in Clear Lake. In Aberdeen she was employed at the 3M Company. She retired from the 3M Company in 1986.
Hazel married Philip Anderson on January 29, 1983. Philip and Hazel resided on his farm near Redfield, SD. While living in Redfield, Hazel worked as a CNA at the nursing home and retired after Philip passed away in 1998. Hazel moved her mobile home from the farm in Redfield to her daughter and son-in-law’s farm in Aberdeen in November of 1993. She moved into the Davis Court Apartments at Mother Joseph Manor in 2007, and in June of 2020 she transferred to their long-term care facility.
Hazel enjoyed playing cards and bingo while at Mother Joseph Manor and was known for always helping others. She had a special place in her heart for angels and collected angel figurines for many years. Now she is our “Angel”. Hazel was a proud member of The American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, St. Mary’s Altar Society and The Catholic Daughters of Americas.
Grateful for having shared Hazel’s life are her sons, Jim (Debra) Reecy of Aberdeen and Bob (Linda) Reecy of Mobridge; her son-in-law, John Kippley (Bobbie Dempsey) of Aberdeen, SD; seven grandchildren: Michelle (Darrin) Olson, Jeffrey (Rachel) Kippley; Brad Reecy all of Aberdeen, Paula (Jason) Boike, MN, Jan (Mike) Kluis, MN, Bethany Reecy, ND, Christina (Erich) Greble, of TX; 26 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Reecy and Philip Anderson; one daughter, Geraldine Kippley; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Reecy; her parents, Hans and Christina Kreutz; and her siblings: Elene Pearson, William Kreutz, Hilda Nelson, and Mary Wylie.
