Eugene Edwin Kline was born on June 18, 1928, to Nickolas George and Philpina (Geffre) Kline in Leola, SD.  Eugene was raised on the family farm near Leola. He attended school in Wetonka.

Following school, Eugene moved to Lead, SD, and worked at the Homestake Gold Mine.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951.  He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.  Eugene received an Honorable Discharge in 1953 and he then moved to San Jose, CA, and worked at the Sunnyvale Corporation for several years.

Eugene moved back to Aberdeen, SD, and was united in marriage to Jeanette Jacobson at St. Mary’s Church in 1958.  They were blessed with four children: Greg, Kimberly, Kelli, and Karla.  In 1962, Eugene began working at Hub City and later, at Safeguard for many years.  He retired in 1993 and continued working part-time farming for Jerry Krueger, and later worked for Ken’s Fairway for many more years.

Eugene loved music and could play the piano, accordion, and harmonica by ear.  He enjoyed making things and giving them away.  He also enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife and family.  Eugene drove to Alaska four times in his lifetime. Eugene was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Machinist Labor Union.

May Eugene be always loved and forever missed.
