Esther was born to Philip F.A.Z. and Lydia (Iszler) Geiszler on October 18, 1927, in McIntosh County, North Dakota. She attended school through the eighth grade. While visiting a neighboring home, she met Leonard Scheuffele while he was on leave from the Navy. They were married in Long Lake, SD on April 7, 1946. The two of them owned and operated a store in Long Lake, and then moved to Aberdeen, SD, in 1950, where they remained throughout their lives.

Esther was a talented seamstress. She made her daughters’ clothing and also did some sewing for other people. She also was a great cook, and her children and their friends, and also her grandchildren, loved her German cooking, especially her kuchen.

To supplement the family income over the years, Esther worked for numerous families (cleaning their homes and helping with their children).

Esther is survived by four daughters, Gwen Petrich of Aberdeen, SD; Donna (Thomas) Sharkey of Winner, SD; Kyna Scheuffele of Aberdeen, SD; Ione Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; and three sons, Quentin (Kathy) of Menomonie, WI; Lars of Fargo, ND; Carson (DeVonna) of Hugo, MN; 1 brother, Ervin (Myra) Geiszler of Medford, OR; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; sons-in-law, Larrie Petrich and Larry Bader; and 4 brothers, Fred Geiszler, Reuben Geiszler, Oscar Geiszler, and LeeMore Geiszler.
