Eileen Mary Slaney was born September 29, 1935, to Charles Richard Arthur and Kathleen (Mitchell) Slaney in London, England.  This is where she attended school and graduated from high school before becoming employed as a bookkeeper at a local grocery store and then doing assembly work at Kodak.  While living in London, Eileen also met the love of her life, Frank Daly, who was stationed in the Air Force.

Eileen was united in marriage to Frank on November 2, 1957, in London.  The couple moved to the United States, and as a military family does, made their home in several different states including Hawaii, California, and Washington, D.C.  They eventually made their way to Sioux Falls, SD and finally settled in Aberdeen.  In addition to being a wife, mother, and homemaker, Eileen also worked for Western Printing in Aberdeen for many years.

Eileen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen.  She remained very proud of her English heritage and enjoyed being a member of The Overseas Club as well.

In her spare time, Eileen found enjoyment in crocheting and knitting.  She also loved honoring her English tradition of enjoying a daily afternoon cup of tea.  Family was most important to Eileen.  She loved spending time with her family and grandkids locally and greatly looked forward to hosting her family from England or traveling there to reconnect with them as well.

Grateful for sharing Eileen’s life is her husband of 63 years, Frank Daly of Aberdeen; her children:  Gary (Lynn) Daly of Brandon, SD, Susie (Kurt) Hagedorn of Lee’s Summit, MO and Kathy (Dean) Schaunaman of Aberdeen; her grandchildren:  Tyler (Megan) Daly, Kyle Daly, Brett (Liz) Daly, Bobby (Kayla) Hagedorn, Ryan Hagedorn, Kari Jo Schaunaman and Jason (Jillian) Schaunaman; her great-grandchildren:  Samantha Daly, Jessica Daly, Connor Daly, Sloan Daly, Aubrey Hagedorn, Molly Hagedorn, Emma Hagedorn and Neveah Janusz; her brother, Brian (Janet) Slaney; and her sister, Kathleen (Bruce) Reynolds.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathleen; and her siblings:  John Slaney, Pete Slaney, Madge Williams and Connie Rohdes.
