Donna Weig

Donna J. Weig, 71, of Leola, SD, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, peacefully at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leola, SD.

Burial will be at Green Mound Cemetery in Leola.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at Schriver’s Memorial mortuary with a Liturgical Wake Service and a Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Donna J. Weig was born July 21, 1951, in Estherville, Iowa to Bud and Bonnie (Sloniker) Juhl. She was raised there and graduated high school from Graettinger, Iowa High school in 1969. After high school, Donna moved to Mankato, Minnesota where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the medical records department. In 1974 she married Randy Johnson. To this union, three children were born: Jodi, Matthew, and Sarah.

In August of 1992, Donna moved to Aberdeen. She began working at the Village Bowl where she did secretarial work. Donna took pride in her work at the bowling alley, and always went the extra mile, going above and beyond her duties to make sure things were taken of.

On July 17, 1993, Donna married the love of her life, Wayne Weig. To this union, she gained five stepchildren; Jesse, Justin, Brent, Becky, and Randy. They made their home in Leola, SD. Donna continued to work at the Village bowl up until the time of her death.

Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping, bowling, reading, and traveling.  She was an avid Aberdeen Wings Hockey and Vikings fan. She was a wonderful Grandma and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. She and Wayne had many fond memories of their bowling trips with their grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Wayne of Leola; children: Jodi (Jason) Cotner of Redwood Falls, MN, Matthew (Maria) Johnson of Mankato, MN, Sarah Johnson of Aberdeen; Stepchildren: Jesse (Sarah) Weig of Brandon, SD, Justin (Laura) Weig of Omaha, NE, Becky Wolf of Aberdeen, Brent (Jacey) Weig of Leola, SD, Randy (Janea) Hagen of Aberdeen; two brothers: Brian Juhl of Reno, NV and Steve (Angie) Juhl of Shakopee, MN; one sister, Marcia (Richard) Schlitz of Sisseton, SD; and eighteen grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Bruce Juhl; and an infant Granddaughter.
