Donald Whittlinger, 95, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Avantara Redfield.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2022, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ruth Clendenin of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.
Visitation one hour before the service at the mortuary.

Donald D. Whittlinger was born July 27, 1927, to William and Magdalena (Biegler) Whittlinger in Aberdeen, SD. He attended Henry Neil, Sacred Heart, Roosevelt Junior High, and Central High School. After graduating high school, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy in 1941-45 and served his country in World War 2 and he was honorably discharged in 1945.
Donald married Edna Brunmier in 1953 in Aberdeen, SD, and from this union, they had two sons: Terry and Toby. Edna passed away on May 26, 2011.
Donald married Eileen Burris-Kaven on September 26, 1978.
Donald attended the South Dakota School of Mines for a year. He returned to Aberdeen Northern State College for two years.
After college, he worked for Brown County Highway Department, Voight Buick and he later owned and operated Hub City Iron Store.
Donald was a proud member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Aberdeen, Kiwanis Club where he served as President in 1971, member of the Elks Club, VFW, and American Legion. Donald loved to spend his free time hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Grateful for having shared Donald’s life are his wife, Eileen; son Toby (Tracy) Whittlinger of Aberdeen, SD; stepdaughter Lynn (Gary) Daly of Brandon, SD; six grandchildren: Terry Whittlinger, Torey Whittlinger, Ty Whittlinger, Tyler Daly, Kyle Daly, and Brett Daly; six great-grandchildren: Luca Whittlinger, Landen Whittlinger, Samantha Daly, Jessica Daly, Connor Daly, and Sloan Daly; and his brother, Ted Whittlinger of Mesquite, NV.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna; son, Terry; two sisters; and six brothers.
