Debbie Bruce

Debbie Lynn (Pierson) Bruce passed away on April 9th, 2023, at the age of 51, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was surrounded by her loving family at her bedside.

Born on August 26th, 1971, in Yakima, Washington, Debbie was the daughter of Jerry Pierson and Faye (Fryer) Roy. She lived in several states and collected many friends throughout her life in South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. Debbie graduated from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD with a degree in social work.

Debbie was a woman with a huge heart who loved helping others. She was always willing to lend an ear to her nieces and anyone who needed someone to listen. She was known by many nicknames, including Deb, Mama, Debbers, and Suzie. Debbie loved fishing, reading, watching reality shows, especially Survivor, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with her family, especially her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping at garage sales, sitting in the sun, and traveling with her youngest son's baseball team.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Harold Bruce, of Pierre, SD, and her six children: Curtis Pierson (Julyssa Griffin) of Helena, MT, Kaysee Rath (Sean Schoenholtz) of Pierre, SD, Courtney Harbel (Cris) of Helena, MT, Nicholas Bruce of McQueeney, TX, Madison Bruce of Pierre, SD, and Connor Bruce of Pierre, SD. She is also survived by her mother, Faye (Fryer) Roy of Hudson, WI, her sister Tammy (Pierson) Quist of San Tan Valley, AZ, and her brothers Steven Pierson (Cindy) of Fort Collins, CO, Wayne Pierson (Paula) of Lebanon, TN, Justin Pierson (Stephanie) of Hudson, WI, and six grandchildren: Cassius, Hope, Jasper, Jaxton, Ayden, and Weston and many nieces and nephews.

Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Jerome Pierson of Aberdeen, SD and Breezy Point, MN, her maternal grandmother, Inga (Holey) Fryer of Aberdeen, SD, and paternal grandparents, Carl and Leone Pierson of Aberdeen, SD.

Debbie will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory 414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, South Dakota, on April 15th, 2023 at 4:00pm with reception to follow.
