David M. Murray, 64, of Stratford, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin as celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service and rosary, led by Deacon Thomas Rausch, following at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.

David M. Murray was born February 6, 1954, to Eugene and Lidwina (Geffre) Murray in Aberdeen, SD.  He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli High School.

Following graduation, David began what would become his life-long career as a machinist with Hub City, Inc. in Aberdeen, which lasted over 42 years.  David was a member of the Machinist Union for many years.

David married Catherine Young on October 20, 1973, in Aberdeen.  They shared nine years together before she passed away on December 29, 1982.

David was united in marriage to Kathy Olson on July 11, 1987, in Mansfield, SD.  They made their home in Stratford until June of this year, when David became a resident of Aberdeen Health and Rehab.  David and Kathy were one day short of celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary when he passed away.

David will lovingly be remembered for his unique sense of humor.  In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking and also had a great interest in cars and motorcycles.

Grateful for sharing in David’s life are his wife, Kathy Murray of Stratford; his five sons:  Jason (Heather) Murray of Aberdeen, Andrew Murray of Columbia, SD and Lucas Murray, Brandon Murray and Matthew Murray, all of Aberdeen; one daughter, Elizabeth “Lyz” Murray of Aberdeen; six grandchildren:  Helen Murray, Ronin Murray, Betty Murray, Ariella Mattson, Troian Lambert and Mariska Murray; and three sisters:  Joann Traphagen of Aberdeen, Carolyn Hildebrand of Minneapolis, MN and Anna (Pat) Cahill of Great Falls, MT.

David was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine; one son, Seth; his parents, Eugene and Lidwina; and one brother, Eugene James.
