David Arbach Obituary

David Wayne Arbach, 67, of Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Hoven, SD, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Avera St. Luke’s, Aberdeen.

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, 414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, SD. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the mortuary. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

David was born September 15, 1954, in Hoven, SD to Norbert and Mary Joan (Titgen) Arbach. He was the first of four children. He graduated from Hoven High School in 1972 and then proceeded to complete a year at Lake Area Technical Institute in the auto mechanic department.

David married Jean Hericks on October 26, 1974. To this union, four children were born: Emily, Adam, Amanda, and Austin. David supported his family by using his knowledge to work at Frost Chevrolet, Sevigny Farm Service, and Holy Infant Hospital in the maintenance department. He eventually became the proud owner of Arbach Appliance and Repair, the Countryside Motel (1988-1999), and CJs Club (1996-2006) - all in Hoven, SD.

David moved to Aberdeen in 2008 where he continued to use his knowledge as an HVAC technician for Brenner Electric.

David had many hobbies. He loved to fish, play chess, watch westerns, and tinker in the shop where he created many masterpieces throughout his life. If he wasn’t at one of the many gun shows he attended with his good friend Dan, then chances are you could spot him playing cards at Jack’s and Joe’s shop uptown. He could make friends anywhere he went, usually by telling them one of his many jokes. He had a personality that attracted people to him.

The biggest accomplishment in David’s life was being a grandfather. In 1999, when his first grandchild was born, you could see him with a smile on his face while he shared the news. That smile only grew with each additional grandchild throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Avera Foundation at https://www.averafoundationevents.org/donate-with-search

He will be greatly missed by his children Emily (Travis) Paulsen, Pierre, SD; Adam (Trina) Arbach, Sioux Falls, SD; Amanda (Chad) Simes, Cresbard, SD; and Austin (Sarah Kuntz) Arbach, Rapid City, SD; his grandchildren Rayce, Dylan (Kaylee), Carson, Joshua, Izabella, Hudson, Taylor, Easton, and Josie; his siblings Cynthia (Ron) Mittleider, Kurt (Marti) Arbach, and Laurie (Tom Bishop) Rausch; his significant other Charmaine McKee and her children Desirae, Brittany, and Chantelle and their families; close friends Dan (Penny) Brenner and Eric (Kari) Brenner; along with nieces, nephews, and many other friends and family members.

David is proceeded in death by his parents Norbert (2018) and Mary Joan (2021).
