Clara Braun Obituary

Clara Ann Braun, 88, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial is 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen with Fr. Mark Axtmann officiating.

Burial is at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook and also view the service at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake and Catholic Daughters of Americas Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

A time of fellowship and reception will follow the burial at the church fellowship hall.

Clara Ann Geffre was born on May 17, 1933, to Rochus and Mary (Grabowski) Geffre in Leola, SD.  She was raised in Leola where she attended school.  Clara graduated from Leola High School in 1951.  After graduation, she attended summer school and taught in Edmunds County for a year.  She then worked as a secretary in Ipswich, SD, and worked as a county agent in Leola.

Clara married Leo Braun in Leola on January 11, 1955.  They made their home in Aberdeen where they raised their six children. She worked at several retail businesses and then went to work in the food service department at Roncalli High School.  She was involved in volunteer work for Roncalli Nearly New and St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years where she was involved with cleaning of the church, director of funerals, did adoration at St. Luke’s and Roncalli, and led rosary. Leo passed away on December 24, 1995 and Clara continued to make Aberdeen her home until she passed away.

Clara was a true prayer advocate for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was always up for a game of cards.

Clara is survived by her children: Nancy (Brent) Muehlberg of Wahpeton, ND; Duane (Terri) Braun of Egg Harbor, WI; Mary (Bob) Sayler of Aberdeen; Pam (Dale) Smid of Aberdeen; Rose (David) Dick of Tyler, TX; and Sheila (Jon) Lewis of Amboy, MN; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sister, Caroline Kline of Aberdeen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Clara in death are her parents; husband, Leo; brother, Albert; and sisters: Armella, Angeline, and Evelyn.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Roncalli Development Office, 1400 Dakota Street, Aberdeen, SD  57401.
