Charlotte Marguerite Beckler

Charlotte Marguerite Beckler, 75, of Bath, SD, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Angelhaus. Her passing followed a battle with dementia.

At Charlotte’s request, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD, at a later date.

Charlotte (Fischer) Beckler, 75, of Bath, SD passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022.  Her passing at Angelhaus of Aberdeen followed a battle with dementia. 

Charlotte was born in Oakes, ND on August 27, 1946, to August and Margret (Pitz) Fischer.  Her childhood was spent in Fullerton, ND, and Oakes, ND where the family ran a grocery store.  One of Charlotte’s favorite childhood memories was of a playhouse with walls decorated in newspaper cartoons.  In high school, she spent many hours swimming at the local pool and babysitting.  Charlotte’s family moved to Aberdeen, SD prior to her senior year of high school. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1965.

During her senior year, Charlotte met Dennis Beckler and they were married on January 3, 1966. Dennis joined the Army and during his tour of duty, the two lived in Coon Rapids, MN, and Okinawa, Japan.  After Dennis’ discharge, they moved back to Aberdeen and eventually purchased a farm near Bath.  The farm was home for the remainder of Charlotte’s life as the couple raised two sons, Terry and David. 

Charlotte was always good with numbers and organizing.  Over the years, she worked for several businesses in Aberdeen, including Ceasar’s Restaurant, Super 8 Headquarters, and Continental Management as a bookkeeper.  An avid snowmobiler, Charlotte used her skills to help organize several SD Snowmobile Association conventions. Longtime members of the Aberdeen Driftbusters Snowmobile Club, she and Dennis were inducted into the SD Snowmobile Association Hall of Fame in 2018.

Charlotte had many hobbies including painting, crafts, and building  2 X 4 furniture.  In 1991 she and Dennis purchased a cabin at Richmond Lake.  The lake would be her place of enjoyment for many years.  One of her favorite times was the 4th of July at the Lake with a large gathering of family and friends.  Her management ability was never more evident than when she offered prizes for the best meal, drink, and appetizer of the weekend which encouraged everyone else to cook for the entire event.

Charlotte is survived by her husband: Dennis Beckler, Bath, SD. Brother: Brian Fischer, Jakarta, Indonesia. Children: Terry (Susan) Beckler, Aberdeen, SD; David (Kerry) Beckler, Bath, SD. Grandchildren: Myles Beckler II, Aberdeen, SD; Lindsey Beckler, Sioux Falls, SD; Mallory Beckler, Aberdeen, SD; Katelynn Beckler, Bath, SD.

Charlotte was preceded in death by parents August and Margret, sisters Georgia and Rosie, and brother Jerry.
