Anna Marie Lacher, 78, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
A private family Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Ave SE, Aberdeen, with Father Andrew Dickenson, Celebrant.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Public visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service and rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Anna Marie Norton was born April 26, 1942, to Kenneth and Rose (Schwab) Norton in Aberdeen. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School, Bath High School and Northern State College.
Anna was united in marriage to Valentine K. Lacher on September 21, 1962, in Aberdeen. The couple made Aberdeen their home, where Anna was employed as the Human Resource Director at Aman Collection Service and Avera St. Luke’s Hospital. After retiring, she worked temporary positions with Express Professional Services, and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by a part-time position with Edward Jones. Anna and Valentine raised five children and shared 48 years of marriage before he passed away on June 7, 2011. Anna continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.
Over the years, Anna was very involved in her community and church, serving as a 4-H Leader, Lincoln School volunteer, English and math tutor, PTA president, Junior Catholic Daughter Co-Leader and Sacred Heart Church Altar Society member and President. She was also active in the Aberdeen Area Literacy Council and South Dakota Literacy Council as a tutor, trainer, president and other offices.
Blessed to have shared Anna’s life are her children: Deborah (Edward) Gillick, Gerard Lacher, Cathleen (Jeffery) Mohr, Vincent (Shelly) Lacher and Renee (Thomas) Kulesa; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four honorary grandchildren; one honorary great-grandchild; two sisters; seven brothers; and many loving friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
