Alice Ann Bastian was born on December 27, 1958, in Amite, Louisiana, to Duane and Harriet “Polly” (Moore) Bastian. The family moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota where Ann grew up and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

Following high school, Ann married Rick Head on February 21, 1978.  One daughter Stacey and two sons, Travis and Erick, were born to this union.  Unfortunately, Rick passed away due to a car accident on August 1, 1982.

Ann married Ron Heilman on December 27, 1985.  One daughter Christine Heilman was born to this union.  Ann and Ron were married until 2000.  Ann’s current life partner was Jeremy Carlson.  They started dating in 2006, and have two fur babies- Peyton and Crosby.

Ann loved being a homemaker.  She worked at Klein’s craft store where she learned framing and matting work.  She also was the manager at Kmart in the jewelry department for many years.  She worked doing alterations for wedding and prom dresses at An Affair to Remember for many years.  Following her artistic and sewing career, Ann worked as a Medication Aide and Cook for Aberdeen Health and Rehab.  She most recently worked for Northern State University as a baker.

Ann loved making outfits for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was known by many as the “neighborhood mom.”  She loved spending time with her family and had many talents, most notably her crafting and sewing skills. Ann was a huge Peyton Manning fan and loved to follow him from the Colts to the Broncos, and to his retirement.  Everyone that knew Ann would agree that she had a smile that could light up any room, and she will forever be remembered for this.

Grateful for having shared Ann’s life are her mother, Polly Bastian; life partner, Jeremy Carlson; two daughters: Stacey Head and Christine (Trey) Buechler; one brother, David Bastian; one son, Travis Head, and fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her first husband Rick, her father Duane, her son Erick, and her nephew, Ryan Voeller.
