Alice M. Gefre, 89, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Angelhaus, Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Fr. Andrew Dickinson officiating.
Burial is at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Alice M. Biegler was born November 24, 1932 to Peter and Walberg (Sitter) Biegler in Strasburg, ND. At a young age Alice’s family moved to Edgeley, ND and attended rural schools. Alice married Markus K. Gefre on October 14, 1954 in Edgeley. They moved to Aberdeen and together they raised six children.
Alice worked for Control Data for a short time and later worked for 3M Company for 25 years. She retired in April of 1998. Markus died in March of 1991. Alice continued to make Aberdeen her home.
Alice enjoyed embroidery and made quilts for all of her children. She loved sharing and teaching her life skills (cooking, embroidery, and many more) with her family. Alice was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are her daughters: Bonnie (John Smith) Nerison of Aberdeen, Renee (Craig) Ness of Lafayette, LA, Karen (Wally) Broome of Charlotte, NC, and Shirley Carter of Rock Hill, SC; sons, Charles (Cathy Dobras) Gefre of Mitchell, SD and Terry Gefre of Aberdeen; siblings: Angie Gustafson of Stanley, ND, Bud (Diane) Biegler, Cutbank, MT, Julie (Doug) Fisher, Fargo, ND, Lavina Weller of Arizona, MaryAnn (Dennis) Anderson of Edgeley, ND, Rose (Owen) Brenna of Keene, ND, Jim (Jan) Biegler of Monticello, MN, Jerry (Vickie) Biegler of Colorado Springs, CO, Bette (Dave) Syversen of Edgeley, ND, and Tillie (Roger) Bobby of Fort Similac, MI; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five step-children, and 7 step-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings: Eddie Biegler, Wilma Schlosser, Herman Biegler, Peter Biegler, and Geraldine Snook; and grandchildren, Emily Rae Ness and Mason K. Gefre.
