William Streifel, 90, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community, Sioux Falls, SD.
William’s wishes were to be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen.
Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery following Mass.
A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the parish hall.
Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church.

William Streifel was born on July 14, 1933, in Zeeland, ND, to Joseph and Anna (Feist) Streifel. He attended and graduated from Zeeland High School in Zeeland, ND, before furthering his education at Ellendale Teacher’s College. After receiving his teaching certificate, William went on to teach in a rural school. He was drafted into the Army and served from June 12, 1953 to May 11, 1955.
William was united in marriage to Dolores Engelhart on June 22, 1955, in Zeeland. William attended school in Wahpeton, ND to become a mechanic. They eventually moved back to Zeeland, ND where William worked at one of the local gas stations. In 1964, they moved to Aberdeen, where he was employed by Larson and Teigen as a heavy equipment mechanic and later, maintenance supervisor at 3M. William continued to reside in Aberdeen until he moved to Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls.
William was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen and took part in weekly Eucharistic Adoration at Avera St. Luke’s Chapel for as long as his health allowed.
William had a passion for bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, computers, and reading. In his spare time, he also enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Blessed to have shared in William’s life are; 9 children: Aloysius, Robert (Janet), David (Linda), Donna (Kevin) Sletten, Daniel (Jennifer), Larry (Lynda), Thomas (Lynne), Karen (Bob) Weisbeck and Michael (Mary); 16 grandchildren: Amber Streifel, Benjamin (Allix) Streifel, Diana Streifel, Nichole (Zachary) Douglas, Stephanie Streifel (Troy Amberg), Barb (Ben) Grote, Ashley (Marc) Trevino, Kaitlin (Kyle) Helder, Phillip (Ashley) Streifel, Andee (Jalanni) James, Abby (Jacob) Fouberg, Regan Weisbeck, Riley Weisbeck, Will Streifel, Lindsey Streifel (Nathan Mayers) and Jared Streifel; 13 great-grandchildren: Landon, Brady, Benjamin, Lylah, Candon, Bracen, Avelyn, Isla, Roen, Mya, Emery, Maryn, Mirabella; and his sister Pauline Crandall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna; his wife, Dolores; his brothers, Francis and Aloysius; and his sister, Lillian Singh.
