William H. Reuschlein was born on January 30, 1939, to Clarence H. and Mildred (Stopfer) Reuschlein in Mitchell, SD. Bill attended parochial schools in Mitchell, Dell Rapids, and Sioux Falls as a young boy. His family then moved to Larchwood, Iowa where he attended St. Mary’s School. Larchwood held many childhood memories for Bill and always held a special place in his heart. The family moved back to Dell Rapids where Bill attended High school at St. Mary’s, graduating in 1957.
After high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a helicopter mechanic. He was stationed in Florida and also in the Philippines for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Bill married Judy Schram on October 3, 1964. After the marriage, Bill attended Lake Area Vocational School in Watertown, SD, graduating in 1968. The couple then moved to Aberdeen and were blessed with three children, Jim, Wanda, and Renae.
Bill was employed by R.E. Huffman Company as an office machine repairman for fourteen years. He also worked part-time for Quality Quick Print. Bill then began employment with the South Dakota Department of Labor, and then retired after fifteen years. Before health concerns made it too difficult, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill and Judy enjoyed traveling during retirement and traveled to many parts of the country. They also were able to enjoy two cruises together.
Bill’s greatest joy and accomplishment was his family. Any opportunity to see them and spend time with them was a good day.
Grateful for having shared Bill’s life are his wife Judy of 58 years; one son Jim (Jan) Reuschlein of Aberdeen; two daughters: Wanda M. (Dale) Criddle of Sioux Falls, SD, Renae Borchard of Aberdeen; one brother David (Sue) Reuschlein, two sisters: Rose Marie (Ron) Olson, Alice (Terry) Hansen; Two sisters in law: Debbie Schram, Vera (Henry) Musil; two brothers in law: Stanley Foster, Clint Foster; and six grandchildren: Nicole (Colin) Weber, Kelley (Kiel) Hesse, Zachary Reuschlein, and Eve, Anya, and Owen Borchard.
