Vincent Prunty

Vincent Prunty, 76, of Pierre, SD, formerly Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Avera St. Mary's Hospital, Pierre, SD.

A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, Aberdeen, with Deacon Pete Mehlhoff officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following the service.  A time of fellowship and a luncheon will follow the burial at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service.

Vincent Leonard Prunty was born October 6, 1947, to Robert V. and Lorraine L. (Silvernail) Prunty. Though his physical body was severely constrained by Cerebral Palsy, his mind was strong, and he lived a life with a heart that was filled with love for every person he ever met. Vince wanted to express his extreme gratefulness to his father and mother, his brothers and his sister, and their families, who all shared in his life by providing a loving and supportive home for him.

Vince was able to live at home in Aberdeen and Pierre for sixty years. After that, he moved to Avera Maryhouse in Pierre, SD, where he flourished in his supportive surroundings. Vince considered all his caregivers to be members of his family and thanks them for their care and for the love they demonstrated on a daily basis. He had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that was endearing to all who came to know him.

Grateful for having shared Vincent’s life are his brothers: Damian (Jill) Prunty, and Brian (Sue) Prunty, his sister Kathann Seiler, his nephews and nieces: Shane (Laura) Prunty, Sara (Cory) Tennant, Sam (Niki) Seiler, Ben Seiler, Todd Bakke, Tara (Tim) Borge, and Tyler (Jessica) Prunty, several great –nephews and nieces.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorraine Prunty, and one brother Joseph.
