Vicki Mitzel

Vicki L. Mitzel, 68, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her residence.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Herreid, SD with Fr. Mark Axtmann officiating.

Visitation is 3:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary.

Vicki Lynn Orth was born August 29, 1953 to Art and Ella (Berreth) Orth in Mobridge, SD.  At a young age Vicki and her family moved to Ellendale, ND.  Vicki attended Ellendale High School.  She moved to Aberdeen in 1978.  Vicki married Donald L. Mitzel on September 29, 1981.

Vicki was a true animal lover and rescuer.  She loved and cared for many dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, goats, and any animal that crossed her path.  Vicki also enjoyed ceramics, making quilts for her daughters and grandchildren, crocheting, throwing horseshoes, and horseback riding.  She has enjoyed trips to the beach, the lake, and is known for her many plants and greenthumb.

Grateful for having shared Vicki’s life is her husband, Don; daughters, Stacey (Kendall) Lewis of New Hill, NC and Casey (Jeff) Bren of Watertown, SD; and four grandchildren: Brayson Bohling, Brody Lewis, Gavin Lewis, and Jeslyn Lewis.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Lester Orth, Gary Orth, and Kenny Orth.
