Thomas "Tom" Van Scoy

Thomas "Tom" Van Scoy passed away peacefully in his hometown of Aberdeen, South Dakota, on January 16, 2025.

Tom’s family invites friends and family to a celebration of life planned for spring. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society in Tom's name.

Born on March 8, 1946, to HJ and Beverly (Letherer) Van Scoy, Tom was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen.

Tom was a proud graduate of Aberdeen Central High School in 1964 and North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton in 1971.

An outdoorsman at heart, Tom found joy in upland game hunting and fishing—his passion for cars, a perfect lawn, and wildlife defined much of his life.

Tom is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter Brooke (Jerrid) Voss; and brother Jerry Van Scoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, HJ and Beverly, and his sister, Shirley Fisher.
