Terry Dickman

Terry Dickman, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Memorial Service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, Aberdeen, with Pastor Blair Kirkpatrick of Plymouth UCC Church Aberdeen officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the mortuary. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Terry was born December 21, 1939, in Yankton, SD to LeRoy William Dickman and Evangeline Mary “Babe” (Slowey) Dickman. He moved, with his family, to Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 3.

He served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He married Sharon Larson in 1956 and the couple had 3 children, Terry, Pauline and Robert.

He returned to Sioux Falls upon his discharge and he worked in various positions. It was during this time, he met the love of his life, Margie Schuurman and they married in Luverne, MN on November 10, 1962. They had a son, Randy.

They moved to Renton, WA in 1965. Terry was employed with Boeing. A highlight of his time there was working on the original Boeing 747.

He moved his family to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1971 where he worked for the City of Aberdeen at the Water Department until he retired in 1999 after 27 years.

Terry enjoyed dancing, camping, hunting, bowling, and darts; but his passion was fishing. He and Margie enjoyed their summer place in Akaska, SD for 23 years and being Winter Texans for 8 years.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Dickman of Aberdeen, SD; three sons, Terry L. Dickman, Jr. and wife Karen, Randy Dickman of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert Dickman of Canyon City, CO; one daughter Pauline Osborn of Adkins, TX; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister Erla Williams of Yuma, AZ. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Evangeline Dickman; 2 sisters, Audrey Davidson and LaVonne Jenkins and his brother, William Dickman.
