Ted Robert Mundt, 82, of Britton, SD, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Avera Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, 504 9th Avenue, Britton, with Pastor Terrill Sorensen presiding.

It was Ted's wishes to be cremated with interment and military honors taking place at the Britton Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m., Sunday, and one hour before the service, Monday, all at the church in Britton.

Ted Robert Mundt was born on April 28, 1931, on the family homestead in Kidder, SD, to John Claus and Freida Willamena (Heyden) Mundt. Ted attended grade school in White Township #4 and graduated from Kidder High School.

Ted was united in marriage to Phyllis E. Moore on September 21, 1951, at Kidder EUB Church in Kidder. The couple made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ted served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1955, he and his wife returned to Kidder, where he worked construction. In 1957, they moved to Britton, SD and Ted started his own business, "Ted's Trenching, Plumbing and Heating", which he continued to operate until the time of his retirement in 2008. Ted remained in Britton until 2012, when he moved to Aberdeen.

Ted was a member of the Britton School Board and the American Legion. In his younger years, he also served as a Volunteer Fireman.

Blessed to have shared his life is his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Mundt of Britton; his children: Lee (Charlette) Mundt of Britton, SD, Shane (Nancy) Mundt of Pierre, SD and Heidi (Jim) Ruch of Aberdeen, SD; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, John Mundt, of Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Ted's parents; brothers, Herbert, Francis, and Roy; and sister, Mabel Smart, preceded him in death.
