Shirley Jeanne (Soike) Rath, 67, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Sanford Regional Hospital Aberdeen.
Her memorial service will be 2:30 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary with Fr. J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service.
Shirley Jeanne Soike was born August 19, 1947 to Harold and Maude (Dixon) Soike in Aberdeen, SD. She attended Aberdeen schools and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1965. She was employed as a medical secretary, then as a legal secretary before working at Mercury Cleaners for many years. She was avid about reading, crossword puzzles, and old movies. She loved animals, and was very witty and a good storyteller.
Grateful for having shared Shirley's life is her mother Maude Smith of Aberdeen, SD, and her step father Douglas Smith of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Shawn Smith of Aberdeen, SD, and Susan (Mike) Spear of Rogers, AR; longtime companion, Kenneth Hubert of Aberdeen; one nephew, Mike (Tricia) Spear of Springdale, AR; one niece, Stephanie Spear of Pueblo, CO; five great nephews and one great niece.
Shirley was preceded into death by her father, Harold; grandparents, Frank and Christine Soike, Elmer and Esther Dixon; cousin, Trish Mack; and her cat, "Puddie".
